It was today that I discovered Harley really is a Mayfield. I picked her up from her overniter at the vets this morning and she came to me, sniffed me and then back to the door from which she came. There must have been other animals she met and lots of staff who she made friends with. Yesterday when we dropped her off she was so busy checking out all the new smells! She was drooling and foaming at the mouth. Yuck! Could have cared less that we were leaving her. Her daddy was worried she was scared and I thought maybe when she realized we were gone. Today I realized that probably never even happened. Like my kids when the left at the sitters or off to their first day of school...no separation anxiety at all! I guess we are good at "socializing" our kids and I guess I am happy to know they are good to go wherever they may be. The best news is no more doggie diapers! Miss Harley is officially an "it." And I say that with love. Well, vet bill: over $300...12 doggie diapers: $16.99...love of this dog: priceless! Good thing we don't have to send this one to college. Next goal: to get her to stop piddling when she sees Grandpa and Grandma.

Happy Birthday Alexis!
This is not the girls one year picture but this is a face I love. Come on, how can you not! How quickly her first year has gone by too. Day by day she gets cuter, smarter and is continually keeping her parents on their toes. By the way,(a transition I'm sure Bryan is sure to love)they are getting cuter and smarter too. And I hope they are staying a step ahead of this priceless gift they have been given. I look forward to what this next year brings...

time to blog
As I make a little click here, click there to check some of my favorite blogs, I see I am not the only one who has some catching up to do. Whew, I'm not the only one! It is so easy to be preoccupied doing NOTHING. My most recent nothing has been to chase Harley around the house cleaning up after her. Note to self: do not ever bring a dog that has not been fixed into the house again. EVER. Yes, she is in heat and no, we are not doing doggie diapers again. We are smart people...who just weren't thinking. Evidently, in the big picture, we must have had something to learn from this. Parenting, ugh(as if Jordan isn't enough for me)!

Way too long...

Where has the time gone? And what the heck have I been doing? Nothing mostly...I see how much I have to catch up on and avoid making an entry. Too much work to play catch up, but I just may try. Where to begin? Here and now!
Today I am catching up with laundry and picking up around the house. Ugh, never finished. Busy trying to keep up with the dog hairs and all she tracks in from the out of doors...or what Jordan tracks in. Did you wipe the dog? Yes(really code for no). Did you wipe your feet? Yes(still code for no, I tracked all the leaves in). Neverending story here. Today, googling "dogs in heat." Yes, she is! Ugh #2! Evidently she is a magnet to all the boy dogs in the neighborhood. And now I need a solution to clean up her spotting about the house. One thing or another...
Yesterday was a fabulous day visiting with Bryan, Alexis, Connie & Jay. Alexis is growing up so fast and has quite the personality. She loves to laugh at those around her and at herself. That is the best! We were a bit late with our Christmas gift but I think she will enjoy her activity table and Sesame Street train set. Those folks are trying to make a come back after being down with sniffles. I came home when it was naptime. Everyone looked like they needed their rest. Did I say that girl is so-oo-o cute!

Pittock Mansion
Steve and I were able to enjoy a great fall day taking a tour of Pittock Mansion in Portland. The upper elevation brought some fog, rain and wind, so we were grateful to be indoors this day. Amazing creation for the time...our only disappointment was that there wasn't a great view of the city. We will just have to visit again!
